Spider Man is DEAD!!!

...Headlines sure have changed.  

Miles Morales is the new Spider Man after Peter Parker died, the debt deal isn't a deal for New Yorkers screams the elderly, and a mother accused of holding a 10 year old bully while her twin 7 year old daughters get revenge are headlines that I have to eventually explain to my children.   

What happened to real solid news that I could intelligently discuss with people?  

Salk discovers cure for polio.
Armstrong lands on the moon.
Anderson gets bigger breast implants.

I really miss the good old days even though my mom was only 7 when polio was cured and I was 2 years shy of being born when the moon had visitors...  but I vividly remember when Pamela Anderson got bigger breast implants.  Now that was news.  

REAL NEWS.
