Well it looks like dad won the Husband vs Wife battle. You know how I knew I was winning? When all the women side with a me (the evil man) it's doomsday for everyone else. Great news.... my wife ordered a cake from some nice but inexpensive place and spent a little under $40. Thanks guys for making me seem more normal than I am cheap. :).
This week was pretty cool. I had a photoshoot on Monday from a reality tv personality. I can't reveal now but I will soon enough. I got some great shots that I am sure all will love. Does anyone need a logo? Apparently people actually believe I have talent. From that belief, several jobs to design WP Header logos and avatars have emerged without me ever advertising. "You like me. You really like me." I haven't set up a page displaying my work yet but after I finish the latest logo I am working on I will add it to my arsenal. So ask yourself.... Do you need a logo? Ok so after 2.5 months with the amazing Yakezie and the awesome Team 3, of who I am a member, my Alexa numbers continue to drop... As of today my rank is 128,648. Barbara was bragging to me one day, "You know Jai, I know everyone there is to know in the world. Name someone, anyone, and I know them."
Tired of hearing Barbara boasting, I said, "OK Barbara, how about Brad Pitt do you know him?" "Sure, yes, Brad and I are old friends, and I can prove it." So Barbara and I fly out to Hollywood and knock on Brad Pitt's door, and sure enough, Brad shouts, "Barbara Friedberg! I just finished reading your blog! Great to see you! You and your friend come right in and join me for lunch!" Although impressed, I was still skeptical. After leaving Brad's house, I tell Barbara that I think her knowing Pitt was just lucky. "No, no, just name anyone else," Barbara says. "President Obama," I quickly retort. "Yes," Barbara says, "I know him, let's fly out to Washington." And off we go. At the White House, Obama spots Barbara and I on the tour and motions us over, saying, "Barbara, what a surprise, I just finished reading your blog. You and your friend come on in, let's have a cup of coffee to catch up." Well, I was a bit shaken by now, but still not totally convinced. After we leave the White house grounds, I express my doubts to Barbara, who again implores me to name anyone else. "The Pope," I reply. "Sure!" says Barbara. "I've known the Pope ever since he subscribed to my blog." So off we fly to Rome. Barbara and I are assembled with the masses in Vatican Square when Barbara says, "This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope." And she disappears into the crowd headed toward the Vatican. Sure enough, half an hour later Barbara emerges with the Pope on the balcony. But by the time Barbara returns, I had fainted and was surrounded by paramedics. Working her way to me, Barbara asks, "What happened?" I look up and say, "I was doing fine until you and the Pope came out on the balcony but then the man next to me said, "Who's that on the balcony with Barbara?" ___ Check out Barbara Friedberg's fun informative, and educational blog on personal finance which discusses how to "live an awesome life, focused on the activities that are most important to you." Until Tomorrow Jai
Once again I am going to set up her side of the argument as well as my side of the argument in a very objective and non judgmental way. Hopefully you (the reader) can give us your fully informed and unbiased judgement. Here is the case.
My wife wants to buy a super expensive $100 birthday cake for the first birthday party of our daughter who we barely know. Ok now that you have the case here is the debate. - Her Unbiased Denfense My wife says she wants a birthday cake from Soutine Bakery because the process of making a cake is an art. In fact, she says cake makers strive for the art of designing flavors and aesthetics which creates the perfect balance of ingredient articulation rendering each piece with sensitivity and technical expertise. My Unbiased Denfense Tom Carvel felt the same way but for only $25. Besides I am a master at photoshop and can easily swap out the cake and put in whichever size, flavor, and name brand she wants. If you don't believe me you can see the photoshoped image of my son hugging Elmo when his second birthday party got canceled due to Hurricane Irene. That is a total savings of $90. A savings which would allow us to buy me. 1. Psycho Slip On Pair Of Tattoo Sleeves - $9.99 2. Do Not Cross Police Line Shower Curtain - $23.92 3. Accept The Fact You Are Aging Breath Spray - $6.97 4. Shredder Guitar Cheese Grater - $12.95 and 5. Tee Time Toilet Potty Puter, For that person that takes their time... - $14.95 Total cost $68.78... leaving us $6.22 which is enough to get her a very thoughtful gift from the two of us. What's your unbiased thought? Until tomorrow. Jai
1. A bald headed sensei from a competing school came up to me and asked, "can you take a photo of me and make my face look pretty?" Shocked by his question I said, "No but I can put hair on your head." Thank God he laughed. :)
2. After returning from the bathroom, Curtis said to me, "hey Jai this guy wants a discount." I am not afraid of giving discounts for various reasons so I ask him, "how many people does he want to shoot?" After a long pause Curtis says, "just 1 but he wants a discount because he came from Rohde Island." 3. Knowing a second language gives me an ability to realize my linguistic and intelectual limitations. However, if I were to ever go to another country and print out business cards I would implore a native speaker to make sure my business card read, "a winner always finds a way" and not "A winner always find away." At least he didn't write wiener. 4. Karate is a great skill to learn discipline, self defense, and respect. Quite frankly it was a bit tough for me to watch little kids fighting. However I don't think this one parent feels the same way I do after I said to her, "your daughter's smile looks nice in this photo should I print it?" After several seconds she shakes her head and yells over at her 8 year old, "stop smiling and look mean." 5. There are millions of photographers in this world and I am ok with that. In fact I network with a few photographers because I respect them so it should be no shock that I keep an eye open to further build my network. However, when a photographer hands me a business card that says "Free Lance Photografht" I draw the line. Curtis I told you I bog about our fun. Until tomorrow. Jai

Growing up in Barbados is one of the best things that could ever happen to you. I am surrounded by a wide selection of food which truly exhibits the flavours of the Caribbean. Flavours from around the world have infused Barbadian cuisine to make the best dishes in the world. A traditional Barbadian Sunday lunch is one of the best meals that you can ever wish for. It is a wonderful feast which is made up of the right mix of proteins and carbohydrates. The meal consists of baked chicken, fried flying fish, rice and peas, macaroni pie, coleslaw, potato salad, steamed vegetables, tossed salad and a hearty beef stew. Each item is prepared on the same day and because there are so many options, there are enough left overs for the next day. Baked Chicken In the Caribbean, we are notorious for seasoning our meat with herbs and spices after a lime and salt bath. Jars of seasoning are available in all supermarkets, but I prefer homemade seasonings. The night before cooking, slits are made in strategic points of the chicken and the seasoning is stuffed into these slits and then baked in the oven. After baking, the result is meat that is tender, juicy and bursting with flavour. Fried Flying Fish Flying fish can be called the fish of Barbados. It is plentiful in Caribbean waters and a favourite among Barbadians. After boning and cleaning, the fish is also covered with lime juice and salt after which it is washed and then loaded with seasoning. A batter is made with flour, bread crumbs and spices (my favourite is curry) and fried until golden brown. Rice and Peas Rice and peas is to Barbadians like Mac N Cheese is to Americans. It is the number one staple in Barbados and it is one of the most versatile starches. The types of peas are endless, and include field peas, pigeon peas and split peas. But for me, this meal tastes best with green peas. The peas are boiled with onion, thyme and a piece of salted meat until tender and then the rice is added and cooked until fluffy. Macaroni Pie Macaroni pie can be safely described as an amped up version of Mac n cheese. The macaroni is cooked in salted water. When finished, the water is drained off and the macaroni is mixed with shredded cheddar cheese, milk, condiments like ketchup and mustard, black pepper to taste and baked until golden. Coleslaw Homemade coleslaw is probably one of the easiest side dishes that can be made. Shredded carrots and cabbage, with finely chopped onions and sweet peppers are coated with mayonnaise and sprinkled with sugar to taste. Potato Salad English potatoes, bits of cheese and ham are mixed together with mayonnaise to create another easy side dish. Steamed Vegetables There is no set rule stating which vegetables you can use, so you're free to decide. I love pumpkin, squash, corn, and broccoli. Tossed Salad Lettuce, onions, cucumbers and tomatoes are the favourite ingredients for a tossed salad. I'm not a fan of tomatoes, so my salad is usually very boring. Beef Stew Gravy is made for the rice and peas using chunks or strips of beef. Onions, garlic, and herbs are boiled with the beef and flavoured using condiments such as worcestershire sauce and soy sauce and other spices. Many people add carrots and English potatoes to their stew. This is a meal that is sure to leave you pleasantly filled and satisfied. Many Barbadians have their own variations. Other popular additions to this meal are sweet potato pie, pumpkin fritters, stuffing, baked pork, ham and fried dolphin (mahi-mahi). But whatever the combination, it can be classified as one of the best meals I ever ate. Image Credit (She Likes Her Food) |
