Every blog has a logo but let's face it most blogs don't have a great one. In fact, if you are serious about blogging... I mean really serious, then at some point you are going to want to consider hiring someone to design a logo that you absolutely love and which fully represents your blog. Now, I don't mean ask your uncle who dabbles in the profession of dabbling to put together a logo for you. No I mean hire someone to do a GREAT logo.
1.Great Logos Make Great First Impressions
I know you realize that first impressions are very important, but do you realize your logo can be the make it or break it decision for why someone stays long enough to enjoy your great content? You see a TON of blogs on the internet daily and many of them look unprofessional or underdeveloped. Why? Because they don't have a great logo to make a great first impression.

Tip. If your logo is great but your content isn't then stop blogging and make changes.

2.Look More Professional
Looking unprofessional is probably the worst thing you can convey to readers or potential customers.  A great professional logo shows your customers that you are a serious blogger/website owner and your business is well-planned, thought out and here to stay.

Tip. If you aren't sure how your site looks then ask a few professionals. Advice is free.

3. Stand Out from Your Competition
Standing out from the competition doesn't mean colorful patterns and neon lights. However, there are millions of established websites out there that look amazing and are trying to compete for your reader's/customer's attention with more joining everyday.

Tip. For truthful responses, ask people you don't know what makes your site stand out. _
4. It Makes Your Business Memorable
Target, FEDEX & McDonalds have simple logos that are easy to remember by customers because they are consistent in their advertising. If you comment on a ton of blogs and are trying to build traffic then you will have your avatar logo gracing other people's pages all over the net. Remember a memorable logo builds a feeling of trust and confidence in your readers and customers.

Tip. If you don't LOVE your logo no one will.

5. It's Cool
A logo can create the “wow” factor and make you feel proud about your site. When people ask you what you do for a living and you tell them you blog you might get a blank stare for a few seconds. If you have a great site with a great logo you can easily just show them because a logo is worth a thousand words with one of them being cool.

Tip. If you don't know how cool should feel visit someone in your niche that you think is cool.

6.Make More Money
Who doesn't want to make more money? A great logo adds to your bottom line by combining all of the above.  Now don't get me wrong... having a great logo doesn't guarantee you will be a successful business. You still need great content, traffic and a little bit of luck to accomplish that but if your logo sucks then you are going to need a lot more content, traffic and luck than you thought.

Tip. After getting a great logo don't quite your day job.
If you are looking for someone to design a logo for you feel free to contact me. My rates are reasonable and affordable. My only rule is you must fall in love with your logo before we are done. No one night stands here. :)

or...

If you just want my opinion it's absolutely honest and free.

Until tomorrow.

Another reason: your blog logo is your brand. In the book Guerilla Marketing, Levinson says that you should cut back on lots of expenses...but to compete you shouldn't make your brand look sloppy. Make it look like you're up there w/ the big boys.

When you look good things are different and usually in a good way.

I agree that a quality logo is extremely important for any online business. Since it is such a key part of a visitor's first impression, you cannot afford to use just any logo. It has to be something that looks professional and reflects what your brand is all about. If you use a lousy logo, you will lose visitor trust right away.

Absolutely. I don't stick around too long if things don't look nice to me.

I agree Logo is first impression and it is important.

but I believe the first thing about a blog is to make the content right. do that patiently and with passion. Content is the first priority. Logo and look of the site can also be changed later or taken up a bit later.

There is a fine line when you do it that way. I think you are partial right. Content is the most important but you can get a way with a lot more if you look great.

you are right. doing your work better. walking that extra mile always pays much much more

your post has forced me to rethink about my site logo!

You're right! A good memorable logo can give a business real value. Just think how much the Coca Cola logo is worth. The product is just a sugary drink in a tin - nothing really that unique, yet its a global sensation. Slick marketing and a memorable logo.

My son sees certain symbols and knows the company all because of branding. He is only 2.5 years old... You are right CC is worthless but worth a fortune.

Great tips, yes a good logo is a must for that 'first' impression. Few months back my logo sucked big time.

Personally I think logos are over rated, but I'm biased, I don't have a logo. Content is much more important.

Content is always best but looks are more important than people realize. I always here things like that was a slick site or what a very stylish site. It can never hurt to have a logo.

I am so indecisive when it comes to logos. I can never settle on one.

I love your logo. Don't change it please. It's sexy without pushing. It's cool without trying and it's simple because it can be.

I totally want a new logo and have such awesome plans for design, it's just not financially prudent right now :)

I wouldn't wait too long. It's more important than not. :)
